Internet Security MultiFactor Authentication

Golden Valley Bank provides additional security measures to our online banking services so that our customers have the confidence that their information is being protected. The online security measures apply to both personal and business account online banking and mobile banking. The goal of Multifactor Authentication is to create a layered defense that makes it more difficult for an unauthorized person to access Online and Mobile Banking.

The additional layers of security provides even greater levels of protection against fraudulent attacks such as phishing, spoofing, key logging, and identify theft. In order to use online and mobile banking, you will be required to select challenge questions and answers, establish a valid email address and register your computer or device.  The security features of  the Bank's website will trigger the address bar in high security browsers to appear green. This is verification to you that you are on Golden Valley Bank’s website.  Each time you log in look for the verification before entering your password. See how it will appear with your preferred browser.

Another part of online security is the authentication of your computer. Golden Valley Bank has the ability to recognize the computer or devices from which you usually log on. If our system detects a suspicious login due to an unfamiliar computer, it will automatically present you with challenge questions that were previously selected.

MultiFactor Authentication uses these three layers of verification to prevent unauthorized access.

- Credentials: A valid User ID and Password must be entered correctly.

- Device: computer, mobile phone or tablet – must be recognized or the user may be asked additional challenge questions or be required to verify their registered email address.

- Geographic Location: if a user’s location is different than normal, the person may be asked either a challenge question or to verify their registered email address.

Step 1: Login using your access ID

Step 2: Establish a valid email address

Step 3: Select your challenge questions and provide your answers

Step 4:Select whether to register this computer

Step 5: Note: Only register personal computers that you frequently use and are not available for public use.

The next time you log on to online or mobile banking, Golden Valley Bank will recognize you. If we don’t recognize the computer you are using to log in, we will ask you to answer one of the security questions you previously created. After completion of the steps above, if you don’t see the green address bar exit the site immediately and notify the bank at (530) 894-1000.

If you have any questions regarding online security, please call the Bank.

Thank you!
